1893 Chicago World's fair invitation suite
For this project, I was tasked with designing a historical invitation suite and chose the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair (World’s Columbian Exposition) as my inspiration. The art nouveau aesthetics of the era, along with its intricate typography, bold color schemes, and ornate floral patterns, guided my design and illustration choices. I drew inspiration from these elements to create a suite that felt both authentic and visually compelling.
The suite includes an envelope, an invitation, an RSVP card and envelope, and four general admission tickets to the fair. The outer white baronial style envelope has an interior sleeve showcasing a rough aerial view of the fairgrounds with a navy border. The invitation and RSVP card both have matching patterned backs and gold foiled edges. There is also a smaller olive green envelope for the RSVP to be mailed back and four general admission tickets to the fair include small illustrations of the Chicago skyline. Every aspect of this suite was handcrafted, ensuring a tactile and immersive experience reflective of the grandeur of the Chicago World’s Fair.
